Tuscany with Kids: Our Family Stay at Agriturismo Diacceroni (Family-Friendly Farm Stay in Italy)
Written by: Brittany Britten - May 2nd, 2025
If you’re planning a family trip to Italy and dreaming of a slower pace, this is it.
We spent a week at Agriturismo Diacceroni, a family-friendly farm stay in the heart of Tuscany, and it was one of the most peaceful, culturally rich travel experiences we’ve ever had. It’s the kind of place where your kids can run barefoot through olive groves while you sip wine made from the land beneath your feet.
Where to Stay in Tuscany with Kids: Agriturismo Diacceroni Location + Overview
Agriturismo Diacceroni is located about an hour from Florence by car, surrounded by rolling hills and sunflower fields. It’s close to family-friendly Tuscan towns like Volterra and San Gimignano, and while you’ll need a car to get around, once you arrive… you may not want to leave.
There are four separate properties scattered across the countryside, offering everything from hotel-style rooms to two-bedroom apartments. Each villa has its own pool with sweeping views, and the main property includes a playground, farm animals, and an onsite restaurant.
Why Agriturismo Diacceroni is Perfect for Italy Family Travel
Every week during the high season, Diacceroni hosts a handful of activities that are truly special — especially for families with young kids:
- A Tuscan welcome dinner with traditional food and wine
- A pizza party under the stars with live music
- A pasta night where kids (and adults) can learn to make pasta from scratch
The atmosphere is casual and inclusive — the kind of place where no one blinks if your toddler dances to the band or your preschooler runs around barefoot with a stick.
They also offer a wide range of optional family-friendly activities:
- Truffle hunts with local guides (and a delicious meal after)
- Cooking classes for both adults and kids
- Horseback riding lessons and trail rides
- Vespa and jeep tours of the region
- E-bike rentals with child trailers for exploring the countryside
Everything is rooted in local tradition and a deep love for the land.
Family-Friendly Food and Wine
The food alone is worth the visit.
You can grab wood-fired pizza for just €10, pair it with a €5 bottle of their own organic wine, and eat while the kids run between the restaurant and the playground. The onsite restaurant serves both lunch and dinner, and if you’re staying in a hotel room, a beautiful breakfast is included — often served outdoors with panoramic views of the hills.
They also sell their own wine and olive oil at reception, which makes for the perfect souvenir or gift.
Things to Do Nearby with Kids
While the property offers everything you need for a slow, relaxing stay, there’s also plenty to explore nearby:
- Volterra and San Gimignano — charming towns full of history and gelato stops
- A craft brewery just a 10-minute walk down a country road
- Hidden picnic spots with incredible views of the Tuscan countryside
It’s a great home base for exploring Tuscany as a family.
Why This Was the Best Agriturismo in Tuscany for Our Family
There’s no rushing. No pressure to be quiet. No awkward glances when your child has big feelings at dinner.
Instead, there’s space. Freedom. Kindness. Community.
Our kids fed donkeys, made friends with other families, and watched the sun set while twirling pizza dough in the air. We rested. We connected. And we experienced a piece of Italian culture we’ll never forget.
This is why we travel — and why I can’t recommend Agriturismo Diacceroni enough for families wanting a meaningful, memory-filled stay in Tuscany with kids.
