Meet the Family
Welcome!
We are a family-run business, started by Brittany & Billy Britten in Calgary in 2023.
Mimu & Me was created after we had been traveling with our one-year-old, Mila, and three-year-old, Murphy, for eight months and we realized we wanted to make something that could help make travel easier for other families.
We wanted to ensure that her children were learning and developing age-appropriate skills even though they were far from home. After tiring of visiting stores in many different cities and spending far too much money on toys that were supposed to keep the kids busy and entertained, Brittany said one day,
"Wouldn’t it be nice to have something premade for each of the kids?”
And we decided to make it ourselves.
After researching age-specific skills and activities, we collaborated with a team of experts to ensure that the activities were-age appropriate and would target fine motor, language, and cognitive skills while being fun and engaging.
MEET OUR EXPERTS
Brittany Britten - B.Ed, M.Ed (Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction)
Brittany has been a teacher for 15 years, serving as an English as a Second Language teacher to high school students brand new to Canada for the last five years. In addition to teaching, Brittany is also a travel agent and runs Mimu & Me. After traveling to 47 countries, including 10 with her children, Brittany was inspired to help other parents to feel more confident when traveling near and far with their own children. She is passionate about learning & development, but also finding simple ways to make things like traveling easier.
Amanda Yetman - B.Ed, B.SpEd (Bachelor of Special Education)
Mandy was a teacher for 10 years before transitioning into her current role as a Special Education Consultant. She has served as an integral part in the development of our Adventure Anywhere Kits, including product vetting & suggestions, and offering ideas for how to use different products in developmental capacities. She believes in helping your little ones learn through play, whether at home or on the go, and is passionate about ensuring that our activities are age-appropriate but also help with developmental milestones. And if ANYONE knows about milestones, it's her!
Sarah Cruise - B.Sc (Kinesiology), MOT (Master of Occupational Therapy)
Sarah has served as an occupational therapist for 15 years in various capacities, and understands motor and skill development in children. She has served as a consultant for our activities and toys, providing guidance for age-appropriate skill development and methods that can help your child's fine and gross motor skills. Sarah is a mom to two little ones, is an avid runner, and is passionate about helping others.
Cheri Skrober - Early Childhood Educator/Childcare Provider
Cheri served as a childcare provider for five years, focusing on developmentally-appropriate activities and milestones with the children in her care. Her creativity and expertise with young children has helped to inspire different activities in our kits, as well as different uses for the toys in our kits we provide on our Instagram.
Note:
While our kits are brainstormed & designed in Canada, we work with factories in China to source most of our toys and activities (as over 80% of the world’s toys are made there). We also carry products made in Denmark (Plus Plus Blocks), USA (Wikki Stix), and even Canada whenever possible!
